Air Permeability Tester is mainly used to test the breathability of fabrics, which is of great significance. For example, the air permeability of the parachute should be moderate, the descending speed should be too large if it is too large, and the descending speed should be too slow if it is too small. Therefore, the air permeability of the fabric is closely related to the wearing performance of the fabric. As people have higher and higher requirements for wearing comfort, the research on air permeability fabrics has attracted more and more attention. Hereinafter, the breathability test process will be explained by taking the breathability test of sportswear as an example.

Test principle:
The fabric is pressed on the selected test head, the instrument generates a continuous airflow through the sample, and a certain pressure difference is generated on both sides of the sample. In a very short time, the system will automatically calculate the air permeability of the sample.

Experimental procedure:
The fabric breathability test is carried out according to GB/T5453, and the test steps are as follows:
1) Clamp the sample on the sample round table. The test point should avoid the edge and folds of the cloth. When clamping the sample, use sufficient tension to make the sample flat and not deformed. In order to prevent air leakage, a gasket should be placed on the low pressure side of the sample (that is, the side of the sample round table). When there is a difference in air permeability between the front and back of the fabric, it should be recorded in the report.
2) Start the suction fan to let the air pass through the sample, adjust the flow so that the pressure gradually approaches the specified value, and record the airflow after 1min or when it reaches stability. For instruments using differential pressure flowmeters, an appropriate aperture should be selected, and the pressure difference on both sides of the aperture should be recorded.
3) Under the same conditions, repeat the measurement at least 10 times on different parts of the same sample. If there is air leakage at the fixture, the amount of air leakage should be determined by calibration and subtracted from the reading.
