Test Procedures

This test must be conducted in a laboratory with standard airflow. The upholstery and filling materials are placed in a test apparatus to create a small sofa with a base and backrest measuring 90°. An ignition source is placed at the connection between the sofa's base and backrest. There are six different ignition sources, numbered 2-7. where 2-3 are gas combustion sources and 4-7 are wood combustion sources (higher numbers represent more intense ignition sources within the group).
During the gas combustion process, the smoldering time from the start should not exceed 30 minutes (60 minutes for wood combustion sources). If the test does not demonstrate charring in all directions beyond 100mm above the ignition source, the gas flame should be removed after 40 seconds (ignition source 2) or 70 seconds (ignition source 3). If there is no flame, it is permissible to continue for more than 120 seconds after the removal of the combustion tube. If there is no flame, it is permissible to continue for 10 minutes after the start of the test for ignition source 5 (13 minutes for ignition sources 6-7).
