How does a fatigue tester work?

The fatigue tester is a device used to evaluate the fatigue performance of a material or component when subjected to cyclic loading or stress.

1. Sample Preparation:
First, a test sample needs to be prepared, this can be a sample of a metallic material, an alloy, a plastic, a rubber or other material. Sample preparation may include steps such as cutting, machining, and preparing standard sizes to ensure consistency and repeatability.
 
2. Loading method:
The fatigue tester usually uses cyclic loading to apply stress to the sample. Depending on the specific test requirements, different loading methods can be used, such as bending, tensile, compression or torsion.
 
3. Loading parameter setting:
Before conducting a fatigue test, it is necessary to determine the loading parameters, such as loading amplitude, frequency, test temperature, etc.. These parameters are selected and set according to the test standard, material properties and specific research needs.
 
4. Testing process:
The sample is placed in the fatigue tester and loaded cyclically according to the set loading parameters. Such cyclic loading process simulates the cyclic stresses that may be encountered by the material in actual use.
 
5. Recording and monitoring:

6. Fatigue life assessment:

7. Result analysis:
Finally, based on the test data and evaluation results, the results can be analyzed and compared to assess the fatigue performance of the material or component, such as fatigue life, fatigue strength or other relevant parameters.
