In order to ensure the safety of consumers, the United States has a series of regulations and standards to regulate the burning performance of clothing. One of the most important standards is the "Standard for Flammable Textiles" (16 CFR Part 1610) formulated by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). Here are some of the main requirements and standards for clothing combustion testing:

1. Textile classification: 16 CFR Part 1610 standard applies to flammability testing of garments, textile fabrics and fibers.

2. Elastic fabrics: For elastic textiles, the test requirement is to test the textile specimen in both directions.

3. Non-elastic fabrics: For non-elastic textiles, the test requirement is to test in the direction of the fabric fibers and fabric yarns of the textile specimen.

4. Flammability test method: Currently, two-way flammability test is the most commonly used method. This method requires that the textile sample be suspended on a specific testing device and the burning behavior of the sample, such as burning speed and time, be observed under specific burning conditions.

5. Burning performance rating: Based on burning speed and burning duration, clothing specimens can be divided into three ratings: Class 1, Class 2 and Class 3. Class 1 is the best rating, meaning the material burns more slowly and for a shorter time, while Class 3 is the worst rating.

6. Labeling requirements: According to the 16 CFR Part 1610 standard, manufacturers must indicate the test results on the clothing label and clearly indicate whether it meets the CPSC's flammable textile standards.

It should be noted that the above information is only a general guide, and specific requirements may vary for different types of clothing. Therefore, before selling clothing, it is recommended to contact the manufacturer or supplier to ensure that the product complies with applicable combustion testing standards. In addition, during the sales process, relevant regulations and standards set by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission should be strictly followed to ensure consumer safety.
