The QUV UV aging tester lamp emits mainly UV light, with a small amount of visible or infrared light. Q-LAB QUV lamps use electricity equivalent to an ordinary 40-watt fluorescent lamp. However, the total energy and spectrum of the emitted UV light varies with the type of lamp emitted. Fluorescent UV lamps are usually divided into UV-A and UV-B lamps, named after the area where their output is greatest.

UV-A lamps are particularly useful when comparing different types of polymers. Because UV-A lamps do not have any UV output when they are 295 nm below the normal sunlight cutoff, they usually do not age materials as fast as UV-B lamps. However, they usually provide a better spectrum than actual outdoor aging tests.

Newly upgraded QUV lamps.
To meet the needs of customers doing high irradiance and still ensure a longer lamp life, Q-lab introduces the new UVA340+ upgrade lamp and UVB313EL+ upgrade lamp.

The new UVA-340+ and UVB-313EL+ lamps have higher irradiance output than the standard UVA-340 and UVB-313EL lamps, and the new lamps are guaranteed to last 1500 hours at 1.55W/m2/nm and 750 hours at 1.70W/m2/nm.

Spectral stability.
Q-Lab can provide high quality UV fluorescent lamps. The spectrum produced by the lamps is stable over the course of their use. Each production lot must pass a series of rigorous tests before it is approved for sale. to ensure that the QUV UV aging test chamber provides the most consistent and stable spectrum year after year.

Several different types of UV lamps are available to suit different applications. A comparison of QUV lamps can be found in "Selecting a QUV Lamp".
