The AATCC TM16 test method provides general principles and procedures that are universally applied to determine the colorfastness of textile materials. This test is applicable to a wide range of textile materials as well as to colorants, finishes and treatments that will be applied to textile materials.

The test items include.
1-Carbon arc lamp, continuous irradiation
2-Carbon arc lamp, alternating irradiation and darkness
3 - Xenon arc lamp, continuous irradiation, black panel selection
4-Xenon arc lamp, alternating between irradiation and darkness
5 - Xenon arc lamp, continuous irradiation (standard black panel thermometer)
6-Glass filtered light

These tests are applied to a specific device and are not meant to be a special test or a quick test in any other respect. The degree of correlation between the solarization test and the actual exposure must be determined mathematically and precisely and mutually recognized by the contracting parties.

The test method consists of the following components, which contribute to the application and execution of the textile raw material solarization test.

Test principle.

The textile sample to be tested and the mutually agreed comparison standard are simultaneously exposed to a light source in a specific environment. The sunlight fastness of the sample is determined by comparing the color difference between the exposed and unexposed portions, or by using AATCC gray sample cards for comparison with the original sample, or by instrumentation for color measurement. The sunlight rating is determined by comparing the light fastness of a set of simultaneously exposed AATCC blue-colored wool.
