Effective humidity is required for three of the four cycles in ISO105B02. It turns out that "effective humidity" is a term specific to ISO105B02. This is the name used in this standard to denote the expected performance of moisture test control fabrics.
ISO105B02
The humidity test control fabric is wool dyed with red azo dye. This dye is used as a reference material for ISO105B02 because the properties of wool are highly dependent on the humidity in the room. As the moisture content of the air increases, the lightfastness of this fabric decreases. By comparing the performance of this fabric to blue wool, the following graph from ISO105B02 can be used to approximate indoor humidity.

How to perform a humidity test?

In order to perform the humidity test, you will need a blue wool reference material and a humidity test control fabric. The type of blue wool used in the test depends on the loop you run.

Moisture test control fabrics and all appropriate blue wool reference materials were mounted on white cards and covered with face shields so that exposed and unexposed areas were larger than 10mm x 8mm. This can be achieved with the ?Mask or _Mask in our fabric mask kit.

The test was then run until the humidity test control fabric reached a grey scale of 4 and its performance was compared to the blue wool reference. If the humidity test control fabric has similar properties to the blue wool shown in the table above, the tester is compliant and can be used to run ISO105B02.
