Product Information:

G214Precision Fiber Slicer is used to make the accurate fiber cross-sectional specimens for further inspection or research under the microscope. Insert a bundle of degreased fibers into the fine holes in the upper part of the micro-tome. The insert media is suitable for fiber bundles and can be dried. The fiber bundle is placed on the ejectorand the micrometer is used to determine the desired fiber sample thickness, and the slices can be cut with blade.

1.Turn the micrometer o the bottom, unscrew the two screws on the cover, remove the cover, and pass the fiber through the small hole of the cover from below to expose a small section. Tighten the screws on the cover to push the push plate to the side of the small hole, press the fiber, lock the nuts on the push plate, adjust to the size you want to cut, drop the collodion, and cut the fiber along the cover with blade.
2.The slicer is an integrated design, which is mainly composed of base, sliding plate and dial. The structure is simple, compact and beautiful, and the loading is convenient and fast. It is easy to understand and cut the slices of various fibers cross section having a cross section of 10 um or more.

FAQs

1. What is the main function of the Precision Fiber Slicer?
The Precision Fiber Slicer is designed to prepare accurate fiber cross-section specimens for microscopic inspection and research. By inserting degreased fiber bundles into the slicer and using a micrometer-controlled cutting mechanism, the instrument enables precise slicing of fiber cross sections. The prepared specimens can then be observed under a microscope for diameter measurement, structural analysis, and material evaluation, making the slicer suitable for laboratory research, quality control, and fiber performance assessment.
2. How does the Precision Fiber Slicer perform fiber cutting? (Long Answer)
The slicing process is carried out manually using a micrometer and blade system. The fiber is first inserted through the slot or small hole in the cover, leaving a small section exposed. After tightening the cover screws, the pushing plate compresses and fixes the fiber securely. The micrometer wheel is then used to adjust the desired cutting thickness, allowing precise control of the section size. Collodion is applied to stabilize the fiber bundle, and the blade is used to cut along the cover. This process enables the preparation of fiber cross sections with thicknesses of 10 μm or more, ensuring consistent and accurate specimens for microscopic analysis.
3. What types of fibers and applications are suitable for this slicer?
The Precision Fiber Slicer is suitable for preparing cross sections of wool, animal fibers, synthetic fibers, and other textile filaments. It is widely used for fiber diameter measurement, quality control in textile production lines, research and development of new fiber materials, and comparative analysis of fiber batches. The slicer is also applicable in third-party testing laboratories, certification agencies, educational demonstrations, and performance verification laboratories involved in material property evaluation.
4. Which standards can be supported when using the Precision Fiber Slicer?
The Precision Fiber Slicer supports testing activities aligned with several international and industry standards related to fiber diameter and fineness measurement. These include ASTM D2130 for determining the diameter of wool and animal fibers by microprojection, BS 2043 for measuring hair fiber fineness, DIN 53811 for textile fiber diameter inspection, and ISO 137 for determination of wool fiber diameter by projection microscopy. It is also applicable to IWSTM 24 and IWTO 8-6 methods, supporting standardized microscopic evaluation in quality control and laboratory environments.
