The High Temperature High Shear Tester is a petroleum product testing instrument manufactured strictly according to the technical requirements of the standard test method of ASTM D5481. which uses a multiple capillary viscometer to measure apparent viscosity at high temperature and high shear rate. It is suitable for determining the apparent viscosity of lubricating oil at high temperature and high shear rate, i.e., the high temperature high shear dynamic viscosity determination of lubricating oil, and the HTHS index. It is also suitable for determining the dynamic viscosity of lubricating oil at high temperature and high shear rate according to SHT 0703-2001. the method for determining apparent viscosity of lubricating oil under high temperature and high shear rate (multiple capillary viscometer method), thus determining the high temperature high shear characteristics of lubricating oil.

Testing principle

Its testing principle is based on a test condition of 150±0.1. under the pressure of nitrogen (carbon dioxide), the sample is forced to flow out of the capillary viscometer. The apparent viscosity at a certain capillary shear rate can be obtained from the sample outflow time and pressure. The viscosity of the oil corresponding to the measured pressure is obtained from the curve calibrated by each viscometer cell.
