Test Principle
Test liquid is applied to chemical protective clothing worn on a test mannequin or human subject by means of spraying, splashing, or limited splashing under specified pressure, flow rate, and duration.
After the test, the inner surface of the protective clothing, as well as the surface of the absorbent indicator garment worn by the mannequin or human subject, are inspected. The liquid tightness performance of the chemical protective clothing is then evaluated by comparing the stained area with standard reference stain areas.

System Configuration
One control cabinet, one spray/splash test chamber, and one turntable.
Protective equipment: one protective face shield helmet, two pairs of protective gloves, and one pair of protective boots.
One detachable mannequin, which can be fixed on the turntable and rotate with it.
Two sets of indicator garments are provided.
Protective structure: overall dimensions not less than 2.5 m (L) × 2.2 m (W) × 3.0 m (H).
Spray Test
Spray nozzle dimensions: Inner diameter of the nozzle pipe (12.5 ± 1) mm; nozzle outlet length (4 ± 0.1) mm; nozzle outlet diameter (4 ± 0.1) mm. A pressure gauge is installed at a position (80 ± 1) mm from the nozzle outlet. During testing, the pressure can be adjusted and maintained at (150 ± 15) kPa. The nozzle is fixed on the spray rod through a screw-driven mechanism.
Hydraulic pump: Self-priming circulation type, equipped with a pressure gauge, with a maximum head of 43 m (equivalent to 430 kPa).
Pre-pressurization device: A spray baffle is installed at the nozzle, working in conjunction with the software program to achieve spray pre-pressurization.
Automatic spray program: Up to 8 spray points can be selected, with manual positioning capability.
The distance between the nozzle and the test point is 1 m. The nozzle is aligned with one test point to spray test liquid at a pressure of 150 kPa for 5 seconds, then automatically moves to the next test point and sprays for another 5 seconds, until all preset test points are completed.
Splash Test
Turntable: made of waterproof material, reinforced structure capable of supporting a person (weight ≤ 75 kg), with a rotation speed of (1 ± 0.1) r/min.
Timer: built-in software timer with an accuracy of 1 s.
Spray device: splash nozzles installed vertically, four nozzles spaced 45 cm apart.
Hydraulic nozzle: at a pressure of 300 kPa and a flow rate of (1.14 ± 0.1) L/min, forms a hollow cone spray with a spray angle of 75°.
The main pipeline is equipped with a pressure regulating device adjustable to 300 kPa. Each nozzle pipeline is equipped with a flowmeter to adjust the flow to (1.14 ± 0.1) L/min.
Pre-pressurization device: splash baffle at the nozzle combined with software to achieve pre-pressurization.
(IV) Limited Splash Test
Hydraulic nozzle: at a pressure of 300 kPa and a flow rate of (0.47 ± 0.047) L/min, forms a hollow cone spray with a spray angle of 75°.
The main pipeline is equipped with a pressure regulating device adjustable to 300 kPa. Each nozzle pipeline is equipped with a flowmeter to adjust the flow to (0.47 ± 0.047) L/min.
Other technical parameters are the same as those of the splash test.
(V) Material Requirements
Enclosure structure: made of 304 stainless steel to ensure corrosion resistance. The test process is visible, and other parts are made of anti-fouling tempered glass.
The entire system requires the indicator liquid to be recyclable and reusable. A recovery device is required to prevent groundwater contamination. The indicator liquid tank is made of stainless steel.
Instrument Features
Equipped with an HMI (human-machine interface) and a multi-channel digital-analog DVP12 series PLC logic controller. Through an industrial-grade TPC1061TX 10-inch touchscreen, human–machine interaction is realized, improving operational intuitiveness and convenience. The entire test process is fully automated without the need for manual adjustment.
The spray and splash test processes require no manual regulation and are fully automated, including spray point setting, simulation setup, and automatic tracking.
Spray test positions can be freely set and stored. Up to 8 automatic continuous test points are supported, exceeding the standard requirement of 5 points. The positions of spray test points are automatically adjusted by a 3D positioning system to ensure accuracy and continuity, improving test efficiency. Manual positioning of test points is also available to meet additional user requirements.
The splash test rotation system adopts a high-precision low-speed motor combined with a feedback signal sensor to achieve a rotation accuracy of 1 r/min.
A specially designed pre-pressurization system enables pressurization before the start of the test, ensuring consistency and stability of pressure and flow. During the specified test duration, pressure and flow remain stable and reliable.
The main unit adopts a wheeled design, allowing flexible movement without the need for fixed installation, making placement convenient.
The main unit, spray/splash chamber, and mannequin 3D positioning device are designed separately. The spray/splash chamber and mannequin positioning system are placed within a transparent protective enclosure, allowing clear observation of the test process while preventing contamination of the laboratory environment.
The instrument is equipped with a waste liquid recovery system and an automatic cleaning system. The recovery motor is made of stainless steel for durability. The indicator liquid can be recycled, saving
resources. The system can automatically clean the protective enclosure, pipelines, and indicator liquid collector, extending the service life of the instrument.
The instrument is equipped with multiple safety protection measures, including overpressure protection, overcurrent protection, leakage protection, limit protection for the 3D positioning system, and an emergency stop function.
The spray reference point can be adjusted by the user. During spray testing, the system can automatically move to a reference position, after which fine adjustments can be made via the touchscreen to select any desired spray position.
