Applications:

SUGA S80 is suitable for testing the sunlight and weathering resistance of a wide range of materials and products, including:

Plastics & Polymers: Building materials, automotive plastics, polymer components.

Coatings & Paints: Industrial coatings, automotive finishes, decorative paints.

Automotive Parts: Interior and exterior components, trim parts, and functional materials.

Non-Metallic Components: Laboratory and industrial materials requiring UV and weathering durability testing.

It is used for research and development, quality control, and regulatory compliance testing to accelerate evaluation compared to natural aging.

Product Information:

SUGA S80 Sunlight Resistance Weathering Tester is a high-performance accelerated weathering instrument that uses eight sunlight carbon arc rods arranged in four pairs at the top and bottom of the chamber. It provides approximately 78 hours of continuous illumination and can perform both exposure-only and exposure-with-spray tests. Designed for rapid evaluation of material durability, the S80 simulates sunlight and rainfall conditions to reproduce environmental aging, enabling accurate prediction of service life for plastics, coatings, automotive components, and other non-metallic materials.

Test Procedures

1. Equipment Installation

Place the tester in a well-ventilated area away from heat sources.

Connect the inlet to purified water and outlet to drainage, ensuring proper water levels.

Install stainless steel ducts and plastic extensions; direct exhaust outside.

Insert filters into the lamp holder at the correct angle.

Install carbon arc lamps and secure with screws.

2. Program Setup

Power on the unit and enter the main menu.

Select the filter system (indoor/outdoor standard).

Set the program: choose program number, mode, irradiance, temperature, humidity, and duration.

Press START to begin the test.

3. Monitoring

Observe the test during operation to ensure correct environmental conditions and spray cycles.

Maintenance Information

Inspect and replace carbon rods periodically to maintain consistent irradiance.

Clean filters, lamp holders, and spray nozzles to avoid contamination and ensure uniform exposure.

Monitor water quality for the spray system to prevent scaling or corrosion.

Regularly calibrate temperature, humidity, and irradiance sensors to maintain accuracy.

FAQ

1. How long can the S80 provide continuous illumination?

The S80 provides approximately 78 hours of continuous illumination using eight sunlight carbon arc rods arranged in four pairs. This enables accelerated testing equivalent to months of outdoor sunlight exposure within a short period.

2. Can the tester simulate rainfall as well as sunlight?

Yes, the S80 supports both exposure-only and exposure-with-spray (rain) modes. The top and bottom carbon arc lamps combined with the spray system allow accurate simulation of sunlight and precipitation effects on materials.

3. How many samples can be tested simultaneously?

Up to 70 samples can be tested at the same time, each measuring 150×70×1 mm. This allows batch testing for plastics, coatings, and automotive components.

4. Which standards does the S80 comply with?

The S80 complies with major international and regional standards, including JIS B7751. JIS A1415. ASTM G153-13. ASTM G23. ISO 4892-1/3/4. NES M0135/M0141. and automotive OEM standards such as Chrysler LP-463PB-16-01. Ford BO 101-1. GM 9125P, and Nissan MO 135.
