Influence factors of fabric permeability

An important factor affecting the comfort of fabric is the permeability of fabric. Sports wear, wind and cold clothing have high requirement for air permeability. Some industrial textiles, such as airplane parachutes and filter cloth, have special requirements for the breathability of fabrics. The permeability of the fabric is determined by the number and size of warp and weft yarns and fiber gaps, and is also related to factors such as warp and weft density, yarn count, yarn twist and so on. It is also related to fiber properties, yarn structure, fabric thickness and volume weight.
Influence factors of fabric permeability:
1. Influence of fabric material on air permeability.
The tissue structure and thickness of cotton, hemp, wool, nylon and polyester fabrics were selected, respectively. YG(B)461 digital fabric breathalyzer was used to test air permeability in GB/ t5453-1997.

2. Influence of fabric structure on permeability.
Fabric structure is also an important factor affecting the permeability of fabric. As can be seen from table 1, fabric of different organizational structure has a relationship of permeability: > satin fabric > twill fabric > plain weave fabric. This is because the warp and weft of the plain weave fabric is the most interweft, with smaller pores and less air permeability. Permeable fabric yarn has a large gap and a large air permeability. Due to the change of fabric structure and density, the air permeability of the fabric increases with the increase of floating length. When the warp and weft of the fabric is constant, the density or weft is increased, and the permeability of the fabric decreases. The density of the fabric is constant, and the fineness of warp and weft is reduced, and the permeability of fabric increases. Within a certain range, the twist of the yarn increases, the unit volume of yarn increases, the yarn diameter and fabric compactness are reduced, and the air permeability of the fabric increases.

3. Effect of processing mode on breathability.
Choose the same specifications of pure cotton plain cloth (11.7 Tex x 11.7 tex315 root / 10 cm x 267/10 cm), its for soft, liquid ammonia, soft, wash and wear, liquid ammonia wash and wear, liquid ammonia moist crosslinking and three proofing finishing, comparing the influence of different finishing methods on fabric permeability.
