Why does the Accelerated Weathering Tester use UV lamps?

The reason why the Accelerated Weathering Tester uses UV lamps is that they are more stable than other lamps and can reproduce test results better. Fluorescent UV lamps are used to simulate the effects of sunlight on physical properties such as brightness drop, cracking, peeling, etc.
 
There are several different UV lamps to choose from. Most of these UV lamps produce mainly ultraviolet light rather than visible and infrared light.
 
The main difference between lamps is in the total UV energy they generate in their respective wavelength ranges. Different lamps will produce different test results. The actual exposure application environment can prompt which type of UV lamp should be used.
The advantages of Accelerated Weathering Tester fluorescent lamps are: fast access to test results; simplified illuminance control; stable spectrum; minimal maintenance; inexpensive and reasonable operating costs.
 
The UVA-351 lamp simulates the UV portion of sunlight passing through window glass. This is an indoor application for material testing to reproduce the damage of some inks and polymers in the environment near a window.
 
UVA-340, an option to simulate the UV rays of sunlight.
 
The UVA-340 is an excellent simulation of the sunlight spectrum in the critical short wavelength range, i.e. the spectrum in the wavelength range 295-360nm, the UVA-340 produces only the spectrum of UV wavelengths found in sunlight.
 
UVB-313 for maximum accelerated testing.
 
UVB-313 can provide test results very quickly. The short-wavelength UV they employ is more intense than the UV light waves commonly found on Earth today. While these much shorter than natural wavelengths of UV light can accelerate testing to the greatest extent, they can also cause unrealistic degradation damage to some materials. UVB-313 lamps are used for quality control and R&D applications, or for testing very durable materials.
