Horizontal Flammability Taster is developed according to the standard GB-T2408-2008, with a special specimen holder can be in the same instrument for plastic horizontal burning and vertical burning two methods of testing, automatic recording of test time. With a high degree of automation, accurate time recording, automatic display test results and other advantages. The instrument provides for the horizontal and vertical direction of the specimen placed in the laboratory with a small flame ignition source to determine the burning speed of the specimen, flameless burning and flameless burning time.

9 Tips to Horizontal Flammability Taster.
Horizontal and Vertical Burning Tester
1、First of all, the specimen will be clamped according to the following figure.
2、Set the flaming time to 30s before the test starts.
3、At one end of the sample 25mm and 100mm, draw two lines perpendicular to the long axis, at the other end of the 25mm mark, make the sample parallel to the longitudinal axis and inclined at 45 degrees to the horizontal axis to clamp the sample.
4、Turn on the power and click the "Stop" button to make the Bunsen burner return to the leftmost side.
5、Click "adjust position" key to move the Bunsen burner to one end of the sample, unscrew the locking screws on the Bunsen burner holder and sample holder slider, adjust the distance between the Bunsen burner and the sample, so that the Bunsen burner is under the free end of the sample, adjust the distance between the sample and the Bunsen burner by "up" Adjust the height of the specimen by the "up" and "down" keys, so that the free end of the specimen is located 10mm above the bunsen burner. After the adjustment is complete, click the "stop" button to return the Bunsen burner to its original position.
6、Open the gas valve on the gas line, make the gas enter the equipment, click "gas" key and then adjust "gas flow", click "ignition" key to light the Bunsen burner (first time use) Because there is air in the gas pipe, so you need to clean the air to light the fire) and adjust the knurled nut at the lower end of the Bunsen burner to produce a 20mm high blue flame when the lamp is in a vertical position. Tilt the Bunsen burner at 45 degrees.
7. Click the "Start" button to apply the flame to the sample. When the flame application time is over, the Bunsen burner will automatically return. After stopping the flame application, if the sample continues to burn (including flaming or flameless burning), start to observe the sample burning when the flame application time starts to count, tap the timing key when the flame burns to the 25mm mark, the burning time starts to count, and tap the timing key again when the sample continues to burn to the 100mm mark or extinguish, if the sample does not burn to the 100mm mark, then measure the length of burn from the 25mm mark to the end of the burn. If the sample is not burned to the 100mm mark, then the length of burn loss from the 25mm mark to the end of the burn L, (unit mm).
8, can be self-supporting specimen burning, should be non-self-supporting specimen clip to the right; non-self-supporting specimen burning, should observe the specimen burning, and gradually return the specimen clip to the right.
9, the assessment of the results.
Combustion properties of the material, according to the combustion behavior after ignition, can be divided into the following four levels (the symbol FH indicates horizontal combustion):
FH -1 : after removing the ignition source, the flame is extinguished or burned front does not reach 25mm mark;
FH-2 :After removing the ignition source, the burning front crosses the 25mm marker, but does not reach the 100mm marker, in the FH-2 level, the length of burnout should be written into the grading symbol, such as FH-2-70 mm;
FH-3 :After removing the ignition source, the burning front crosses the 100m m marker, and the burning speed is not more than 40 mm/min for specimens with thickness between 3 and 13 mm; for specimens with thickness less than 3 mm, the burning speed is not more than 75 mm/min. In FH-3 level, the linear burning speed should be written into the grading mark, such as FH-3-30 mm/min;
FH - 4 : In addition to the linear burning speed is greater than the specified value, the rest is the same as the FH-3 level. The burning speed should also be written into the grading mark, such as FH-4-50 mm/min;
Horizontal and Vertical Burning Tester
Caution:
If the burning front crosses the 100mm mark, then record the time t required to burn between the 25mm mark and the 100mm mark, at which time the burn length is 75mm ,If the burning front does not burn to 100mm, the burn length is the distance from the 25mm mark to the extinguishing point.
