The leather color fastness to rubbing tester is used for the test of the rubbing fastness of the leather surface, and evaluates the amount of color transferred from the sample to the rubbing pad by determining the degree of "fade" of the leather surface or coating.

Operation process of leather color fastness tester to rubbing:

 

1. Put the air-conditioned sample on the test bench and stretch it by 10% along the friction direction.

a. If the specimen cannot be elongated by 10%, stretch the specimen to the maximum allowable elongation.

b. If the sample cannot be kept stable during the friction process after 10% elongation, continue to stretch the sample until the sample cannot be elongated.

(Note: Record the elongation of the sample in the test report)

2. To test a general leather sample, load a weight block so that the total weight of the test head is 1000g. For suede leather and similar leather (including front garment leather), due to the large frictional force, no weight is loaded during the test, and the total mass of the test head is 500g.

 

3. Fix the prepared test felt pad on the test head so that the test head is in horizontal contact with the leather sample. Choose from the following number of rubs: 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200, 500.

 

4. If necessary, replace the new test felt pad, re-select the number of tests, test the untested part of the sample or a new sample.

 

5. Remove the sample and the felt pad, and evaluate the color change of the friction area of ​​the sample and the staining of the felt pad according to the specified gray sample card. Record any visible changes in the surface of the specimen (changes in gloss, changes in polish, changes in fuzz, damage to the coating, etc.).

5. Both types of testers have a common feature: pre-tension can be applied to the sample. This object point is especially useful when testing elastic leathers, meeting the requirements of C4580 Abrasion Test.
